Blue Hills College hosts meeting about green projects

MIDRAND - Blue Hills College, in partnership with Generation Earth, recently hosted a Midrand regional meeting to discuss local schools starting green projects.

Generation Earth runs an environmental programme which helps guide and develop young, green activists through career guidance and teaching responsible behaviour.

In a statement, Ella Bella Constantinides, founder of Generation Earth and a UN Youth mentor, said each year regional meetings are held in different areas to help get schools and universities enthusiastic for a year full of green activations. She explained, “This year, pupils will focus on different environmental challenges including water management, food security and energy efficiency. Members of Generation Earth are being encouraged at these meetings to start a project or campaign around one of these challenges and through their activation to find solutions.”

Generation Earth has partnered with Tsogo Sun and Nedbank to help get school pupils motivated.

Blue Hills principal Jabulani Donga said the meeting went well. “The meeting was attended by schools from surrounding areas and Ella Bella welcomed new councils to Generation Earth. She also commended the old councils for the projects that they ran in their schools and in their communities in the previous year,” he said.
