Man arrested for burning victim’s private parts with cigarette lighter

IVORY PARK - A man (26) was arrested by Ivory Park police for kidnapping and assault.

It is alleged that four suspects entered the victim’s residence in Ivory Park Ext 13 on 9 January and accused him of stealing their plasma TV. The victim reportedly told the suspects that he had no idea what they were talking about, but they took him to a bushy area next to Glen Austin and allegedly assaulted him with a wheel spanner.

Ivory Park police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said the victim further alleged that the suspects also burned his private parts with a cigarette lighter. She explained, “Police were alerted to the incident and quickly went to the scene where they found one of the suspects allegedly begging the victim not to report the matter to police. The suspect was arrested, his accomplices are still at large. The victim is recovering after he consulted a doctor for his injuries.”

The suspect is expected to appear at the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court charged with kidnapping and assault.
