A message from Ward 110 councillor Stephen Lamola

RABIE RIDGE - Ward 110 councillor Stephen Lamola wished the community a safe holiday and urged residents to take special care of their children during the festive season as some children are often neglected when adults are celebrating.

Lamola said, “Our children are the future of the country, please look after them and know where they are at all times.”

According to Lamola, people should avoid asking for lifts from private vehicles, but must use public transport to avoid common crimes that befall people when they ask for lifts from strangers, such as rape and kidnapping. He pleaded with those who get behind the wheel during the festive season to not drink and drive. “If you travel for the holidays, make sure that you ask a friend or a neighbour to keep an eye on your home. Before you leave, make sure the house is locked up.”

Speaking about the problem of water shortages late this year, he said the community should make sure that taps are properly closed to avoid wasting water.

“Next year, we will continue to reconstruct roads in Mayibuye and also to finish all the RDP houses which are currently being built in Ivory Park and Mayibuye. I wish all the people in the ward, and the country as a whole, a great festive season and a prosperous New Year as we prepare for local government elections,” said Lamola.
