Midrand resident crowned Miss Commonwealth SA 2016

NOORDWYK - Midrand resident, Palesa More, was crowned Miss Commonwealth SA at the 2015 crowning gala that took place recently at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City.

The 26-year-old, who works as a corporate citizenship consultant, said she was both excited and overwhelmed. “Winning Miss Commonwealth SA 2016 is a great honour and responsibility, and I look forward to being an ambassador for this great brand in driving social change,” said More.

She draws inspiration from the words, ‘If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough’. She mentioned that the dreams we all have, no matter how big, can come true if you really believe and work for them.

More is excited that she will represent South Africa at the Miss Commonwealth London in November 2015. She holds a BA degree in International Relations and Sociology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Business Administration from the Wits Business School. She is also currently exploring the possibilities of starting her MBA.

Anel de Swardt-Strydom, national director for Commonwealth Pageants South Africa, said they were happy for More and confirmed that More will leave for a week’s all-expenses-paid trip to London.
