Passionate about dance

SUNNINGHILL – South African born hip-hop instructor at Hayley Bennett's World of Dance studio in Sunninghill, Justin Mancer, recently made waves in San Diego, where he took part in one of the celebrated World Hip Hop Dance Championships.

In addition to the championships, the self-taught dancer also represented South Africa in the World Battles, a division of the World Hip Hop Dance Championships, competing in popping and locking (street dance) where he was praised for his technique.

“I loved competing at the championships, all those countries coming together in a mosh lash of culture, uniting under one banner the love of dance and hip hop,” he said.

Despite not making it to the top 10, Mancer is grateful for the experience and plans on staying in Los Angeles to learn all he can.

“My plans going forward are to stay in LA to gain more knowledge and then work here. The knowledge that I learn I want to put back into South African culture. I am so blessed to be doing what I do, the best way for me to appreciate that is to give back by teaching what I have learnt,” he said.
