Meet Miss CommonWealth SA semi-finalist

NOORDWYK - A resident has made it to Miss CommonWealth SA semi-finals and hopes to win the 2015 title.

Palesa More, a corporate social investment consultant, said she is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to realise their full potential. She said, “I entered Miss Commonwealth SA as it is an opportunity for me to give back in any way possible. I believe if you do good, you don’t have to wait to be a millionaire to make a difference; start small.”

The pageant empowers women with the knowledge to bring about change to communities in need. More added that she is excited to be involved in the Pink Drive, a charity that raises awareness for breast cancer. The-26 year-old also co-founded a youth development non-governmental organisation known as Brainiacs Youth. She added, “I am a supporter of furthering one’s studies. Among other achievements, I have recently graduated from the special entrepreneurship programme at the Gordon Institute of Business Science.

A representative of the pageant Ziyanda Makoto confirmed that More is one of the Miss CommonWealth SA semi-finalists. In a statement, Commonwealth Pageants SA said the competition is important because, “It is our duty as a community to assist young role models to become worldwide leaders who are committed to serving the needs of our communities.”

The finale takes place at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on 12 September. The winner will represent South Africa at the International pageant in London in November.
