Hanging man identified

GLEN AUSTIN - The man who was found hanging from a tree in Glen Austin has been identified.

Constable Matome Tlamela confirmed that the victim’s possible relative had come forward to identify his body.

The woman who claims to be closely linked to the man said the man had left a note telling his family of his plans. She refused to be mentioned by name and to divulge the man’s identity.

At 6.30am on the morning of 30 October, a Glen Austin resident and his workers were on their way to work when they came across the body.

The body was tied to the tree with a shoelace and black electric cord.The workers called the police and the Midrand police arrived at about 7.10am with emergency services. The man was declared dead on the scene.

Acting police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela had previously said the man was between the ages of 30 and 35 years.
