Residents in shock after learner commits suicide

Middelburg residents are in disbelief after the suicide of a 16-year-old former Hoërskool Middelburg learner.

Amukelani Bhekisizwe Mzwandile Sibeko took his own life in Motetema, Limpopo, on July 27.

Amukelani’s mother, Mrs Mary Sibeko, said it is not clear why her son took his life, as he didn’t leave a note.
He did send WhatsApp messages to his friends a day before this death, telling them that he loved them.

Amukelani was described as a humble and intelligent person who enjoyed playing rugby and was an overachieving learner.

He attended Laerskool Dennesig and Laerskool Delmas, and studied at Hoërskool Middelburg before enrolling at Hoërskool Ben Viljoen this year.
When people heard about his passing, condolence messages flooded Hoërskool Ben Viljoen’s Facebook timeline.

He leaves behind his parents and two brothers.
His funeral was held in Mhluzi on August 3.
