Watch: Caution advised as left-hand lane congested by trucks on old Bethal road

The Broodsnyersplaas T-junction, where a fatal accident took place over Easter Weekend, has now had its left-hand lane brought to a standstill.

A video circulating on the Traffic Alert WhatsApp group shows numerous trucks currently at a standstill in the left-hand lane near the Broodsnyersplaas T-junction on the old Bethal road.

As seen in the video material shared by a man passing the scene, when other trucks attempt to pass on the open right-hand lane, they are forced to venture perilously close to oncoming traffic.

The man who provided commentary as he passed one of the trucks, stated that he does not know the reason why so many heavy-motor vehicles have stopped in one place.

He further urged people travelling on the route to proceed with caution, with the most recent fatal accident occurring over the Easter Weekend.

On April 19, an accident took place between a car and a truck at the Broodsnyersplaas T-junction, which took the lives of three people, including a toddler.

All three victims were confirmed to be Ethiopian, but none have been formally identified yet.
