The Steve Tshwete Local Municipality urged motorists to exercise caution on their commutes given heavy rainfall and strong winds, which is predicted to continue throughout the day.
With an approximate expected rainfall at 80%, the municipality warned residents to avoid low lying bridges and pedestrians to take necessary cautions.
A resident also warned that rising storm water levels has resulted in flooding of Kogel- and Zuid Street both near Laerskool CR Swart and the Middelburg SPCA.
The R555 (Witbank) is also partially flooded near the Hermansdal Estate resulting in a vehicle losing control and leaving the road.
Another vehicle lost control and overturned on the N11 (Loskop road) near Botshabelo.
The two incidents are reportedly not too serious.
Congestion has also been reported on the N4, direction eMalaheni, near the Van Dyksdrift turn-off due to a jack-knifed truck.
Mist has also been reported in the Belfast area.
Municipal teams are on high alert, with more flooding expected.
Motorists should also not misjudge potholes, especially on the N11 towards Hendrina.
