A seventh victim of the horrible N4 crash on Thursday between Belfast and Machadodorp near Berg-en-Dal, has died in hospital.
The gruesome accident was one of two multiple vehicle accidents just two kilometres apart.
Traffic was backed up for miles towards Mbombela, with the road only opening at 18:00.
The accident took place around 13:00 in dense fog.
Five people were declared dead on the scene, while a sixth passed away later at hospital on Thursday.
It was confirmed on Tuesday that a seventh victim of the accident had passed away in Life Midmed Hospital.
The identities of the deceased have still not been released with post-mortem examinations having taken place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Both Belfast and Middelburg mortuaries are also still in the process of finalising formal identification of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the provincial traffic department also said formal identification of all victims have not been finalised, and where identities have been confirmed, consultation with affected families is are also taking place.
Most of the Easter road deaths in Mpumalanga happened in the Nkangala region.
Mpumalanga’s Easter road statistics will only be released once the national statistics have been published.
In general, road deaths seems to have declined over Easter in all provinces, apart from Mpumalanga, where it increased.
Apart from the seven N4 fatalities after Thursday’s accident, another two people died when a taxi rolled on the N4 during the weekend.
A pedestrian was also struck and killed while crossing the highway.
