It was reliably learned that Fotoboy ‘Fofo’ Makua, the owner of FOTO Security, was at his home in Extension 1, Mhluzi, when several gunmen opened fire.
The attack took place last night at roughly 21:30 while Fofo was at home with his family.
It is believed that he went outside to address some of his security guards, and after they left, four suspects approached and opened fire at Fofo.
He took cover behind his vehicle, which took a hail of bullets.
He managed to make his way into his house but was followed by one of the gunmen, who pressed his weapon against Fofo’s head.
The gun jammed, resulting in the gunman fleeing and Fofo seeking help from neighbours.
Guard shot shortly after attept on FOTO Security owner
Two hours after the attempt, a security guard from FOTO Security was shot to death not far from Fofo’s home.
The guard was shot at about 23:20 in Mavuso Crescent in Extension 1 and was found lying in the street.
A media enquiry was sent to the SAPS, but no feedback was received by the time of publication.
All attempts to reach Fofo Makua for comment have been unsuccessful.
Previous attempt on Fofo’s life
This is the second attempt on Fofo’s life, with a previous murder attempt made on August 12 last year.
According to previous reports by the Middelburg Observer, Fofo was admitted into the ICU after a brutal assault with a panga left him with severe head injuries.
Several men approached him at the BP Garage on Dr Mandela Drive and insulted him. Fofo contacted one of his guards and drove towards eMhluzi Mall, but his attackers blocked off his route with their vehicle.
Shots were then fired during the altercation, and one of the attackers tried to run over Fofo with their vehicle, resulting in the driver crashing into a yard. He was then assaulted with a panga.
