Hoër Tegniese Skool Middelburg het aangekondig dat die skool se hoof, mnr. Hoppie van Jaarsveldt, oorlede is.

Mnr. Van Jaarsveldt is oorlede na komplikasies met ’n vroeëre operaie.

Mnr. Johan Kruger, adjunkhoof van HTS, sê in ’n skrywe aan ouers dat Van Jaarsveldt se dood skielik en onverwags was.

Die doodstyding word ook sedertdien op WhatsApp-groepe versprei.

Kruger sê dat daar later verdere kommunikasie met die skoolgemeenskap gedeel sal word, met reëlings en verdere geleenthede om Van Jaarsveldt se lewe, en die impak wat hy by Hoër Tegniese Skool Middelburg gehad het, te vier.

Kruger het verder gevra dat die Van Jaarsveldts se privaatheid gedurende hierdie baie moeilike tyd, gerespekteer sal word.

Van Jaarsveldt het in Januarie 2018 by die skool as hoof begin.

HTS principal dies suddenly after surgery complications

HTS Middelburg announced that the school’s principal, Mr Hoppie van Jaarsveldt, has sadly passed away.

The shocking announcement was just made public on the school’s Facebook page.

Van Jaarsveldt died after complications from an operation.

Johan Kruger, deputy principal of HTS, said in a letter to parents that Van Jaarsveldt’s death was sudden and unexpected.

The school’s statement has also since been circulated on WhatsApp groups.

Kruger says that further communication will be shared with the school community later, with arrangements and further events to celebrate Van Jaarsveldt’s life and the impact he had at HTS Middelburg.

Kruger further asked that the Van Jaarsveldt family’s privacy be respected during this difficult period.

Van Jaarsveldt began his tenure as the school’s principal in January 2018.
