Municipality to launch probe after a 3-year-old boy was killed by a waste truck

The Middelburg Police registered a culpable homicide case following the horrific accident involving a municipal truck and a 3-year-old boy.

The acting Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson, Captain Magonseni Nkosi said no arrests have been made.
However, investigations are still underway.

On Wednesday the Middelburg Observer spoke to the family of the little boy, Mondli Ndlovu.

They declined to talk to the paper about the matter but said they were saddened by the incident.

According to information gathered on the scene, Mondli was hit by a municipal truck near the Rockdale cemetery.

Although the incident was initially reported to have happened at about 13:00 last Friday, the family later confirmed that it happened at 09:00.

• On Thursday morning, Lerato Kgomo of the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality said the matter is still under investigation.
