Potential thunderstorm looming – Everything you need to know

Rain expected throughout Middelburg tomorrow.

It seems that we may have some respite from Middelburg’s recent heatwave, even if only fleeting, as weather services have predicted a drop in temperature and some much-needed rain.

Over the past weekend, air conditioners across town were in overdrive, with the summer sun arriving slightly earlier than expected.

According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), there is a 40% chance of expected showers and thundershowers to begin from 20:00 this evening.

This will continue over to Tuesday, with SAWS predicting rain throughout the entirety of tomorrow.

The rain will also bring a drop in maximum temperatures from today’s high of 32°C to the low 20s for Tuesday and Wednesday.

While gladly welcomed by residents, the rain’s brief stay will be short-lived, with more dry, hot air anticipated for the weekend.

The SAWS estimate differs from other websites, as AccuWeather predicts only a 6% likelihood of thunderstorms tonight.

What both sources do agree on, however, is that it will rain on Tuesday.
