Cyclist injured in early morning accident

The accident took place in the early hours of the morning, with many residents making their way to work.

At 07:30 this morning, an accident took place on the corner of Totius- and Dr Beyers Naudé Street, where a man riding a bicycle was involved in a collision with a car.

According to Amos Tebeila, a concerned bystander at the scene, the bicycle’s chain hit the tar road, leaving the cyclist bleeding from the injuries he sustained.

An ambulance arrived at the scene to treat the injured man.

Tebeila told the Middelburg Observer, “Cyclists are warned to be cautious when cycling during rush hours as the speedy traffic could hit them.”

He also recommended that bicycles should have front, rear, and wheel lights to enhance visibility in both the evening and the morning.

He further noted that cyclists should also wear reflective clothing to prevent similar ordeals.
