Andries Jeremiah Labuschagné, the self-proclaimed pastor who is accused of killing a purebred Bull Terrier named Leo, is set to reappear in court today for his bail application after having previously been denied bail on September 18.
In video material of the shocking incident, a man can be seen stabbing Leo in the neck and mouth.
Leo is clearly seen struggling to get away from his attacker and can be heard crying for help due to the severity of his injuries. Leo died after he was stabbed 57 times.
Although not seen in the video, the attacker allegedly called for a sharper knife, which was then handed to him by someone.
After Leo died, the person who repeatedly stabbed the dog allegedly said: “There, it’s done.”
Labuschagné will be joined in Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court by his wife, Reinette, who is also accused of killing Leo.
The couple made their initial appearance in court on September 9, and have been remanded in custody since their arrest on September 6.
Andries and Reinette Labuschagné are alleged to be the assailants in the videos.
At the September 18 bail application, protesters brandishing #justiceforleo signs formed outside.

• It is believed that Labuschagné stayed in Middelburg for a period, but this has not yet been confirmed by the Middelburg Observer or the Specialised Security Services team of Mike Bolhuis.
Amendment: Due to the nature of a new criminal charge brought against the aforementioned couple in Odendaalsrus court yesterday, the Middelburg Observer cannot reveal more information. This decision was taken on legal advice based on the Criminal Procedure Act.
