SAPS arrests two – weapons, ammo, stolen property and murder investigated

Information received from a whistleblower about two suspects who were in possession of a firearm was immediately investigated by members of Middleburg Flying Squad, Witbank Crime Prevention and a private security company in Emalahleni, resulting in two arrests.

The suspects aged 22 and 23 years, were cuffed at MNS informal settlement.

The team approached the identified shack where the suspects were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, and seven live round of ammunition.

Four cellphones, a gas heater, brown jacket, a gold ring, and money believed to have been acquired through criminal activities, were also found.

Intel led police to a house in Coronation informal settlement, where three cellphones and other items were stolen during a house robbery, according to police.

It is alleged that the suspects fired two shots during the house robbery, but nobody was injured.

It is further alleged that a fourth cellphone was also robbed, at gunpoint, from another victim.

A deeper probe revealed that the 22 year old suspect was allegedly involved in a separate Emalahleni murder investigation.

The suspect voluntary led police to Mhluzi, in Middelburg, where another firearm believed to have been used in the alleged murder, was discovered.

The two suspects were charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of suspected stolen property and house robbery.

The 22-year old suspect was further charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and murder.

Both suspects are expected to appear before the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
