No bodies recovered in alleged murder investigation

Two alleged murderers remanded in custody after police forensic investigation finds no sign of the victims’ remains.

While the murder investigation of two alleged stock thieves continues, two men are behind bars with no bodies to show for their crimes.

Elandslaagte farmer Reinhardt Steyn and his security guard Chriswell Dumisani Masilela were remanded in custody after their arrest and first court appearance last week for the alleged murder of two men.

According to a press release issued by the provincial SAPS, Steyn and Masilela were arrested for the alleged assault of two men they accused of stealing sheep, leading to their deaths.

The police are also investigating information that the bodies were set alight.

A forensic investigation was conducted on the farm to search for the victim’s remains, however, there was no sign of the alleged murder victims.

Steyn and Masilela were remanded in custody after their initial appearance last Thursday with their bail hearing taking place today (Thursday).
