Another life lost on N4 near Middelburg Dam

Yet another single motor vehicle accident on the N4 near Middelburg Dam has claimed a life.

Duduzile Siwela was killed after the Toyota Etios she was travelling in with four other people lost control and rolled.

The accident occurred on Sunday at roughly 16:00.

It was reported that three men and a child were also travelling in the Etios.

This is the fourth accident on the stretch of highway between Middelburg Dam and the Woestalleen off-ramp in three months.

• Most recently, the occupants of a bakkie pulling a trailer narrowly escaped death after their vehicle was struck by a truck.
According to Louwtjie Swart from Traffic Alert, the occupants were fortunate to survive the wreckage.

• Another accident in the same area left an infant orphaned on July 9.
A two-month-old boy was flung from the red VW Polo after it lost control and rolled into the open field next to the N4.

Welcome Mazibuko (20) and his girlfriend, Nompumelelo Tracy Mbokane (20), were killed in the accident, while their two-month-old son miraculously survived.

• A 20-year-old Eswatini national was also killed on June 4 after the minibus he was travelling in collided with a truck.
Lindah Magagula was transported to the Middelburg Provincial Hospital but later died from his injuries.

• The family of Duduzile Siwela was contacted by the Middelburg Observer but declined to comment.
