11-year-old raped and murdered, man wanted for information

The police are searching for a man who could assist them in the investigation of rape and murder in Hendrina.

According to a media statement issued by the SAPS, the Police in Hendrina are investigating a case of murder and rape after an 11-year-old girl was murdered on farm in Hendrina on Sunday evening, 25 August around 19:30.

The suspect is said to have then fled the scene after the incident.

According to a report, the girl’s mother was in search of her daughter but reported her disappearance to the police after failing to find her.

The woman informed police that she suspects that her sister’s male companion could know something about her daughter’s sudden disappearance. She further alleged that, before her child went missing, she was last seen with this man in question.

During a police investigation of the farm it was found that the man had left.

The members then searched the man’s shack where they noticed blood stains inside. The missing child’s naked body was then discovered with stab wounds about 100 metres from the shack.

The little girl was unfortunately certified dead by medical personnel at the scene.

It was at this point when the case was opened and preliminary investigation suggests that the girl could have been raped by the suspect.

The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage and no one has been arrested so far.

Meanwhile investigators are adamant that Mr Vusi Nkambule (27), whose picture is attached, may assist in the investigation. Mr Nkambule is urged to immediately contact the Police as soon as he gets the message. Anyone who knows his whereabouts can also alert the authorities.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has vehemently condemned this incident in the strongest possible way. “We are very much disappointed about the incident whereby the life of an innocent child was cut short by a heartless person. We promise not to rest until we find the perpetrator and bring him to book, ” said the General.

  • Police are also still in pursuit of the perpetrator who allegedly murdered another male in February this year. The suspect was arrested but later released on R5000 bail.

Anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the suspect is urged to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
