Middelburg hosts another No Guts No Glory

From tomorrow, Middelburg will play host to the largest gathering of journalists in South Africa.

The annual No Guts No Glory seminar is being held over two days at Olifants River Lodge and there are 91 delegates.

The first similar seminar for journalists from the then Transvaal was presented in 1994 at Botshabelo just outside Middelburg.

Journalists will also be treated to a braai.

The rest of the program begins on Friday morning with the FCJ sponsor Avbob’s Lebogang Lesibi and Marietta Lombard, member of the FCJ board, who will discuss Avbob’s projects and the role that the FCJ plays in the larger media landscape.

Other speakers are Akademia lecturer and chief judge Andre Gouws who will discuss the 2023 Avbob FCJ competition for excellent journalism, Managing Director and Chief Editor of Briefly News, Rianette Clulery who will talk about Artificial Intelligence and community newspapers and Yolanda van der Stoep, well-known photographer and judge of the Avbob competition whose theme is The good The bad and The ugly.
