26 year old caught with two unregistered firearms

A successful joint police operation led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man in Extension 5, Mhluzi.

Last night, the provincial task team, Middelburg Flying Squad and Middelburg Detectives were conducting an operation when they spotted a group of men.

As the police approached, one of the men walked away.

While fleeing from the police, the man threw two pistols into the yard of his neighbour.

He was arrested and claimed the guns didn’t belong to him, saying he was told to keep them hidden.

The serial numbers of the firearms had been scratched off.

He was charged with possession of a firearm and is expected to appear in the Middelburg Magistrates’ Court.
