Man dies after being flung from vehicle on N4

A serious single-vehicle accident involving a red Volkswagen Golf occurred on the N4, about 1km from the Woestalleen off-ramp heading to Middelburg.

According to information gathered at the scene, the vehicle was travelling to Middelburg when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled into an open field at around 07:00.

The driver and his daughter were both flung from the vehicle.

Sadly the driver died on impact.

The child was found at least 200m from the vehicle. Fortunately, the child survived, however, the driver died on impact.
The engine of the vehicle was also found outside the car.

It is unclear how many other people were involved in the crash, but they were transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The driver lost control of his vehicle.

The Middelburg Forensic Pathology Department is yet to transport the man’s body to the state mortuary for forensic tests.

• Shortly after the crash on the N4, another accident occurred at the intersection of Hektaar Street and Mandala Drive.

This incident involved three vehicles.

At the time of publication the victim was unidentified.

Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries, three children were involved in the crash.

Paramedics treated those who were injured at the scene.
