(Video) One dies in Dr Mandela Drive accident
A horrific accident involving three vehicles has claimed the life of a man.
The accident occurred just after 19:00, near the Mpumalanga Department of Health Pharmaceutical Depot and Twizza.
The accident involved a Nissan NP200 belonging to Titon Security, a VW Polo, and a Toyota Quantum minibus.
According to information gathered at the scene, both the NP200 and the VW Polo were heading towards the Middelburg Mall on Mandela Drive, while the minibus was heading towards Nasaret.
The VW Polo was driving behind the NP200 and attempting to overtake it; however, it drove into oncoming traffic and collided with the minibus.
The driver of the Polo died on impact, while the driver of the minibus and a passenger sustained serious injuries.
The NP200 sustained minor damage, and the driver was fortunately unharmed.
The injured passengers are being transported to various hospitals by different ambulance services.
The Steve Tshwete firefighters and SAPS members are currently on the scene.
The traffic department, however, is nowhere to be seen to conduct traffic, and the fire department has stepped in to assist.
Emergency services are waiting for the Forensic Pathology Department to transport the deceased to Middelburg Hospital, where a post-mortem may be conducted.
Motorists are urged to approach the area with caution.
