Pekingese mauled in dog attack, owners of Bull Terriers saught

Two Bull Terriers who escaped from their yard wreaked havoc in Tambotie Street after getting hold of two dogs within the confines of their yard.

One resident explained how the dogs went from gate to gate, fighting through the fences with enclosed dogs, finally succeeding in getting hold of a Staffordshire Terrier’s paw as well as dragging the unfortunate Pekingese through palisades.

Brian Amos explained that his mother’s Pekingese lost its eye, and is still at the vet being treated after the attack on Friday.

The owners of the Bull Terriers arrived in a silver SUV, loaded their dogs in and left without a word.

“If they were only to apologise, it would be a start, but I feel they should pay the costs,” Brain said.

He further expressed concern over the possibility that it could have been a child.

“My mother and the gardener tried to separate the dogs and were unsuccessful, what if it had been a child on their own?”

He is also convinced that the owners of the dogs reside close by, and feel its shameful that they still haven’t come forward after a message seeking for more information was placed on their street WhatsApp group.

“How else would they have known where the dogs are?”

The administrator of the WhatsApp group told the Middelburg Observer that they received feedback from residents, saying the Bull Terriers are frequently seen running down Oribi Street. The suspicion is also there that the owners might reside in Maroela Street.

Should anyone have more information on the owners of the Bull Terriers, or should the owners wish to come forward, Brian can be contacted on 082 332 9986.
