Two human trafficking suspects found guilty of Contravention of Immigration Act

On July 22 the court sentenced the Guambe brothers to three months imprisonment or an R5000 fine each for Contravention of the Immigration Act.

Cornelis Johannes Uys (60), Cornelis Johannes Albertus Uys (23), Carlos Bernardo Guambe (34) and Gabriel Bernardo Guambe (32) also appeared before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 27.

The four accused, Cornelis Jahannes Uys (jnr), Cornelis Johannes Uys (snr), Carlos Bernardo Guambe and Gabriel Bernardo Guambe.

The four are being accused of human trafficking following their arrests in June and July.

The case of the four men accused of human trafficking has been postponed to July 27 for a bail hearing.

They were arrested shortly after the Nelspruit-based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Flying Squad, Department of Labour and Home Affairs found 39 victims including seven women, nine children under the age of five and 23 males all over the age of 18, on a farm in Dullstroom.
