Shots fired by police at N4 fuel protestors
Trac has advised motorists to abandon all traveling on the N4 until further notice.
A video in circulation shows a closed Emgwenya tunnel (Waterval Boven).
Trac says protests are also underway near Machadodorp.
It was also confirmed that coal has been dumped on the N4 in eMalahleni.
The protests are spreading.
In the video taken by motorists at the tunnel, a police vehicle can be seen with its blue lights on inside the tunnel.
Shots being fired can also be heard clearly.
Trac confirmed that a number of shots had been fired by police to disperse protestors.
The incident occurred between 11:00 and 12:00 this morning.
The tunnel is presently open, but motorists should rather take alternative routes to the N4.
