Municipal meeting resolves potential unrest

Residents can breathe a collective sigh of relief in knowing that there will be no municipal strike after this morning's meeting.

After employees met with the acting Municipal Manager and the Executive Mayor, it was decided that workers will resume duties as normal.

Fears of a strike flare up surfaced earlier today after the Steve Tshwete Municipality was under lockdown due to dissatisfaction over the benchmarking process that took place to determine the grading of municipal salaries.

Access to the municipality was cut off as scores of workers gathered around the premises.

The outcome of this morning’s meeting has not yet been made public but sources did confirm that the employees will not be embarking on another strike.
