Mikaeel Mohamed Hoosen and Ayesha Chandulal were travelling in a Ford.
The incident involving a BMW and a Ford happened on Thursday shortly after 20:00.
The Ford was reportedly turning into Park Street when the two vehicles collided.
Residents, who came in their numbers, to the accident scene said they heard the impact of the crash from their homes.
The BMW was carrying three people whom all survived the accident.
One of them was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The names of the three people have not being released yet.
As soon as the family and friends of the two persons, who were killed in the accident, heard the news they rushed to the scene.
The distressed family members watched as the firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove the bodies of their loved ones from the vehicle.
Meyer Street was closed for at least two hours.
• Mikaeel Mohamed Hoosen will be buried at the Middelburg Muslim Burial today.
•Ayesha Chandulal will also be laid to rest today in Maputo, Mozambique.
