Major General among N4 road casualties

The driver of the truck, that was struck and killed on the N4 last Thursday, has not been formally identified yet.

A second victim, who was struck and killed alongside the truck driver, has been identified as Alzu Feeds Sales Manager Mr George Eybers.

Mr Eybers collided with the truck’s trailer when it came loose from the truck around 06:00.
Both Mr Eybers and the truck driver got out of their vehicles and exchanged details next to the road.
The early morning accident on the N4 last Thursday in which two men were killed.
Two VW Polo’s who did not see the accident scene then collided, when one of the Polo’s veered off the road to avoid striking the truck.
One of the Polo’s then struck both Mr Eybers and the driver of the truck next to the highway.
Both died instantly.

The N4 had to be closed for some time in order for the scene to be cleared.
• Later the same day the Schoemanskloof road was also closed to traffic following the death of Major General Nhlamvu Elias Dlamini in a head-on collision shortly before noon.

The driver of the bakkie with which Major General Dlamini collided, was also pronounced dead on the scene.
The former Gauteng Hawk’s head served as Pienaar’s Cluster Commander at the time of his death.
