Man arrested for ‘fraudulent sale’ of stand
A man has been arrested for fraud relating to the sale of a stand in Doornkop.
According to Sgt Nonhlanhla Mdluli of the Middelburg Police Communication Office, they received a complaint from someone claiming that he was mislead in an alleged fraudulent transaction involving a stand in Doornkop.
The man paid the suspect R25 000 for the stand, only to find out later that it already belongs to another person.
The owner of the stand told the complainant that this is not the first time it had happened and that the suspect has sold their stand to others, taking their money and then disappearing.
The complainant tried to call the suspect to demand a refund only to find out that his number had been blocked.
Sgt Mdluli said that the suspect will appear in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court today on a charge of fraud.
