Crime syndicate targeting lighting plants at mine

A crime syndicate, targeting lighting plants at Tweefontein mine, has pushed a businessman to breaking point due to the financial loss he has suffered.

Carel Botha says that he works as a mine-contractor.
He leases lighting plants, something that resembles a Venter trailer equipped with huge light bulbs, to the mine.

These lighting plants are used to illuminate underground shafts.
One of these mobile plants is worth well over R100 000.

Over the past two weeks, someone stole four of Mr Botha’s lighting plants.
“When the first one went missing, we tried to protect the others by covering them with a safety brim (large rocks that is placed around an item so it cannot be removed).
But that did not stop them. They simply dragged the rocks out of the way and drove off with my property,” Mr Botha said.

Mr Botha is offering a R20 000 no-questions-asked reward to anyone who can give him information that will lead to the recovery of his property.
He can be contacted on 082 823 1560.
