Video: Baby Madison has been chosen by God

Middelburg's baby Madison has been chosen by God to lead Middelburg to redemption from the sideline where the town has been dealing with our serial baby abandonment issues.

In a stinging indictment of the way in which the community has failed not only baby Madison but her mother and other women before them, St John’s Presbyterian Church Reverend Kokkie Smit asked “who has sinned?” sending a clear message of salvation to baby Madison’s mother.

He told Wednesday’s gathering that he had heard about Madison from a car guard at OK Grocer whom he befriended.

The Middelburg Care Village choir sang a number of hymns, in one of which Madison was eulogised as a “glamorous, awesome, beautiful creature”.

Baby Madison’s ashes were interred inside a biodegradable box, “so that she never finds herself inside a container again, but will be free in a place where butterflies and bees flutter around her,

” Ms Karen Loesch, who placed Madi’s ashes into the grave, toldĀ www.mobserver.co.za.

St John’s also erected a gravestone for Madison in the church’s Garden of Remembrance where a Magnolia Grandiflora, or Little Gem tree, was also planted on top of her grave.
