Middelburg and Hendrina Residents Front councillor and exco-member Jomo Segage is back at home following his brief detainment by Brooklyn police in Pretoria earlier this week.
Segage was detained by the police after complaints by the Israeli embassy where Segage was engaged with protesting Israels ongoing war with Hamas in Gaza.
In a voicenote to supporters after his release, Segage said police declined any formal charges against him.
Fellow MHRF councillor and Speaker of Steve Tshwete Council, Thato Mathunyane, distanced the MHRF from Segage’s activism around the war in Gaza, saying the front is only concerned with matters within the Steve Tshwete municipal jurisdiction.
