Meeting with municipal workers eases tension, services to resume

Services at the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality have resumed after disgruntled employees downed tools to gather at the civic centre this morning.

A source within the municipality confirmed that the striking workers have agreed to return to work after a meeting took place between them and management.

The source explained that some of the issues discussed during the meeting was the withdrawal of suspension letters issued to certain strike instigators, the upgrading of the municipality to level 5 and the grievance of municipal employees who feel that Acting Municipal Manager, Thokozile Zulu allegedly failed to meet with employees.

Rate payers are welcome to visit the civic centre in what little time is left before closure.
