Burglars active in Pongola Street

Residents of Pongola Street in Aerorand have to sleep with one eye open after a break-in and the poisoning of dogs on Tuesday night.

Break-ins occurred at two houses with perpetrators gaining access to the homes from an empty stand in Dwyka Street.

Dogs at a home not far from where the break-in occurred, had also been poisoned while the home’s electric fencing had been cut. There was, however, no entry to the home where the dogs were poisoned.

Police believe that the home where the dogs were poisoned and the electric fences damaged, was targeted first. Something however disturbed the burglars who then moved on to the second house where police believe the culprits were after the aluminum window frames of the house.

The area has been a target for burglars for some time, due to the open areas around Pongola Street offering both hiding places for perpetrators and their loot.
