WATCH: Robbery caught on video, police looking for suspects
Police made video footage available of a robbery that later resulted in two residents being shot and injured.
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon.
On the video three men can be seen entering Uncle George Take Aways in Cowen Ntuli Street. They pose as customers and buy cigarettes.
The robbers pointed firearms at the cashier as well as his shop assistants. They stole money from the till as well as two cellphones.
Two residents, who followed the robbers and managed to catch one, were injured when the captured robber’s friend turned around to save him and opened fire on them.
Both were rushed to hospital and have since been discharged.
The gang of robbers seen on the video, also reportedly tried to hijack a car after they shot the two people and fled down Cowen Ntuli Street. They are also suspected of being involved in other robberies in neighbouring towns.
