Pastor gunned down during church service

The police have launched a manhunt for the man that murdered a pastor in Doornkop during a church service on Wednesday evening.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Mtsholi Bhembe, said that an unknown man entered the church while Pastor Christopher Mokwena was conducting a service. The man forced the pastor out of the church at gunpoint.

The suspect told the congregants to continue with the service as he had some business to take care of with their pastor.

Members of the church contacted the police. When the SAPS arrived on the scene they found Pastor Mokwena lying in a pool of blood, about 200 matres away from the church.
The deceased sustained bullet wounds on his upper body and was declared dead at the scene.

Police have opened a murder case.

Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Detective Constable Lazarus Mtshweni at 072 947 3661.
