(Breaking News) Coffin case: Only ANC Youth League granted permission to protest
Only the ANC Youth League, who handed in their application to picket tomorrow at the Middelburg Magistrates Court this morning, have been granted permission.
Prudence Magutle, Steve Tshwete Municipality spokesperson, says that the EFF was not granted permission to picket because “there were issues with their application”. They did not respond to requests to come to the municipality to sort them out before the close of business.
The DA application was too late to consider before the close of business.
This means that technically, EFF leader Julius Malema has not been given permission to bring his mobile stage to Middelburg, which he applied to do.

But, information from a trusted source say that the municipality cannot always refuse permission for people to protest and that protesting groups do not always adhere to municipal requirements, as was the case with a land grab issue in court two weeks ago where a large group of protesters picketed outside court without applying for permission.
In certain instances it is better for authorities to control the crowds than to aggravate the situation by trying to disperse them with rubber bullets and teargas, the source said.
The ANC Youth League protesters will be assembling at Pick ’n Pay, a block from the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court.
A WhatsApp broadcast has requested people to assemble at the municipal buildings. It is unclear if the broadcast is affiliated with any political party. It calls on ‘comrades’ and ‘concerned citizens’ to join.
Julius Malema was reported to have said that only over his dead body will the two farm workers accused of kidnapping and assaulting a man, be released on bail tomorrow.
