Traffic officer arrested
The Hawks arrested a traffic officer at the Middelburg Weighbridge for corruption on Sunday.
The arrest follows a complaint by a motorist on Sunday, alleging that he was forced to pay R800 after being pulled over at the weighbridge.
Members of the Hawks arrested the officer and confiscated money found in his pockets.
The official is expected to appear in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Monday (today).
His name cannot be made public before his court appearance.
