Mercedes-Benz reveals updated 2024 GLA, GLB, including AMG Models

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the highly anticipated updated versions of its 2024 GLA and GLB crossovers, which come with a host of impressive new features and design updates.

Mercedes-Benz’s GLA and GLB models, the luxurious tri-pointed star vehicles, have been given a refresh with a new front fascia, grille and standard LED headlights, as well as a level of standard equipment that exceeds expectations. The GLB has been given a more rugged front bumper, with visual underbody protection to enhance its off-road capabilities. Both the GLA and GLB models come with a striking new Spectral Blue Metallic paint, along with a selection of new wheel designs in 18- and 20-inch sizes.

Inside, the GLA and GLB are packed with innovative features, including two 10,25-inch screens on the dashboard as standard, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto included. The steering wheel has been upholstered in Nappa leather, while the AMG Line now offers a heated steering wheel, which is a first for both models.

The GLA220, GLB250 4Matic, GLB 250, and GLB250 4Matic are all powered by the same turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder engine, which now comes with a new mild-hybrid system. With 164 kW of power and 349 N.m of torque, a second-generation belt-driven starter-generator provides a temporary 9 kW boost in certain driving conditions.

The AMG variants of the GLA and GLB have also received updates, with new front fascias and styling, along with the AMG emblem now displayed on the bonnet. Revised LED headlights and taillights have been fitted, while the newest-generation AMG Performance steering wheel and the company’s latest MBUX software have been added.

The only engine available for the AMG models is a 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 225 kW of power and 400 N.m of torque, with a similar mild-hybrid system providing the same 9 kW boost. The GLA 35 has a zero to 100 km/h time of 5,1 seconds while the GLB 35 reaches 100 km/h in 5,4 seconds. Details about the GLA 45 have yet to be released.

The 2024 GLA and GLB crossovers are impressive additions to the Mercedes-Benz lineup, offering a range of luxurious features, stunning design updates, and advanced technology that will appeal to drivers who demand the very best from their vehicles. With the current GLA starting from R767 276 and the current GLB setting buyers back R923 737 for the entry level model, it is likely that the new additions will come with inflated price tags.
