Toyota releases its newest Coaster
The first-generation Coaster was introduced in 1969 as a single-deck minibus, seating 17.
Various iterations of the Coaster have been offered, with seating capacity ranging from 17 to 26. The second and third generations followed in 1982 and 1993 respectively.
The current version went on sale in 2017 and is powered by 4.0-litre turbodiesel generating 100kW and 353Nm and driving power to the rear wheels employing a five-speed transmission.
Toyota has adopted a 23-seater layout offering seats for 22 passengers. Driver comfort has been improved by offering a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, an audio system, Toyota Connect telematics and safety features inclusive of ABS, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution. The Coaster also boasts a passenger and driver airbag.
Pricing starts at R899 900 and includes a six-services/60 000km service plan (intervals set at 10 000km) and three-year/100 000km warranty.
