Daytona to distribute Koenigsegg in SA

Won the lotto or a big tender recently?

If you did, you can now use your quick money to buy some quick wheels – the quickest on earth, that is, because Swiss hypercar builder, Koenigsegg, has just appointed Johannesburg exotic car dealer, Daytona, as the brand’s official representative in South Africa.

Daytona is also the place where you go when you want to buy a Rolls-Royce in Mzansi or hit some potholes in a brand new Aston Martin, Lotus, McLaren or Pagani.

Koenigsegg now has 40 outlets across the globe from which to distribute its current three-car lineup; the Gemera, Jesko and Regera.
The Jesko Absolut derivative boasts a claimed top speed of 530km/h thanks to its twin-turbo, 5.0-litre V8 being able to produce a mind-boggling 1 195kW and 1 500Nm.

Koenigsegg is the nemesis of that other hypercar manufacturer, Volkswagen-owned Bugatti, and has on more than one occasion smashed the VW’s speed records.

In 2017, less than one month after Bugatti made a huge fuss about a Chiron’s 0-400-0km/h-run of 42 seconds, Koenigsegg took one of its Agera RS models and did it 8,67 seconds faster.

So, next time you are on your way to Cape Town, on that long straight between Colesberg and Richmond in your Renault Kwid rental car, and you hear a car overtake you but do not see anything, it is probably a Koenigsegg.
