Take on the Nelspruit Post Couch to 5k Runner Challenge!

Training is divided into four week programs.  Three of the four weeks have the purpose of building fitness levels, while the fourth week of every cycle is used to allow the body to rest and to adjust the program to a  higher level of fitness training, which resumes in the first week of  the next cycle.

Nelspruit Post is inviting our readers to embark on a journey to fitness with us.  Take a look at a jogging schedule that has been designed for professional couch potatoes who want to get on the road and complete a 5 kilometer race within 5 weeks.

Week one looks like this:

Monday – Walk briskly for 20 minutes

Tuesday – Jog for 10 minutes

Wednesday – Walk for 20 minutes

Thursday – Jog for 15 minutes

Friday – Take the day off

Saturday – Jog 3 kilometres.  If you do not feel comfortable to complete 3 kilometres after the first week, repeat the week’s program for another week before attempting to complete 3 kilometres.
