Editor's note

Only 24 weeks until Christmas

The last few months of every year seem to speed past much faster than normal.

After a hectic week working at Innibos, I was working through my diary and tearing off the June page of my desk calendar on Monday when it hit me – we’re halfway through the year.

From this point on, time seems to speed on and in the blink of an eye we’ll be hearing Christmas carols in the shops and starting making our gift list.

I don’t know if this is a side-effect of being very busy, getting older or just really needing a holiday about now but it’s very disconcerting.

Speaking up in the office yesterday, a colleague informed me with a smile that we only have about 24 weeks until Christmas.

Now, while I’m really glad that the December holiday is looming, I feel a bit stunned when I think of everything that still needs to happen. Think of all the birthdays, the handful of public holidays, promised braais and visits, Mandela Day, Braai Day and then the inevitable barrage of year-end functions and Christmas markets.

I’m also reminded of New Year’s resolutions…most of which I’ve forgotten by now and a few I’m still working on – like living a healthy, active life.

Have you managed to complete all of your New Year’s resolutions and what are you looking forward to in the second half of the year? Let me know in the comments section below or on White River Post’s facebook page.
