Young Laeveld athlete earns top 20 spot at SA biathlon champs

Laerskool Laeveld learner and biathlon athlete Anrich Botha recently made his school and supporters proud, finishing under the top 20 at the SA Biathlon Championships on March 30.

Anrich Botha, a Grade Six learner of Laerskool Laeveld, recently took part in the SA Biathlon Championships in Bloemfontein on March 30, where he outdid himself by finishing in the top 20 in his age category.

Anrich was one of 79 young biathletes to compete in the boys U13 category. The running leg of the biathlon was held at Mangaung Athletic Stadium and the swimming leg at the stadium’s swimming pool.
He clocked a running time of 02:34:81. followed by a swimming time of 35:55, seeing him finish in 18th place overall in South Africa in his category.

The school expressed its pride in him, saying: “Congratulations, Anrich! Your hard work and perseverance have truly paid off. Keep aiming high and chasing your dreams!”
