Some of the competitors had lost loved-ones to cancer, or have family members or friends fighting cancer.

The Garden City Motors CANSA Golf Day was hosted at Mbombela Golf Club on October 3.

“We at CANSA Lowveld cannot do any of this without the community. A big thank you to all the companies that took the sponsorships and all the four-ball entries that made this day a success,” said Rinella Jansen van Vuuren, CANSA Lowveld’s sustainability co-ordinator. “After a full day of playing, we gave out a lot of gifts at the prize-giving. Dewald Jacobs helped by raising more funds with our auction items. We raised over R80 000 during the golf day. All the money will help fund various services that CANSA provides.”

Gerhard de Bruin and Werner Myburg took first place in the better-ball Stableford on 50 points. Obed Mashego (a pivot on his three-ball) and Ezya Manilane were second on 49, Steven Mashisi and Mashego were third on 48.
