Thrilling racing and family values enjoyed at Dust Buster #3 in Mbombela

Some 269 mountain bikers crossed the finish line across four race distances.

The master female 35km race at the Dust Buster #3 at Halls Farm on Sunday August 4 proved to be a thrilling fight for first place.

Annabelle Dixon and Lara van Tonder pushed each other all the way on the flat, dusty course. But it was Van Tonder’s grit that earned her a six-second win over Dixon.

She finished in 01:43:19 and Dixon in 01:43:25.

Jeanette Treherne was third in 01:46:04.

The four-leg Dust Buster series is a family-orientated affair, and mention must be made of the 5km fun ride that attracts grandparents, parents and children tackling the route together.

Dust Buster #3 had 32 finishers in this category, and the joy the children shared with their parents and grandparents makes this a special part of the event.

Aiden Slabbert finished first in the U7 male 5km ride in 00:26:48.

Dust Buster #4, which will conclude the final standings in the series, will take place on September 1, also at Halls Farm.
