Three Lowveld rugby legends to grace the Pumas Business Breakfast in Mbombela

Three former-Lowvelders-turned-Springboks will be guests at this year's Airlink Pumas Business Breakfast, set to take place at the Emnotweni Arena on September 26, and the public still has a chance to secure a table at the event.

The annual Airlink Pumas Business Breakfast is back once more, with a trio of former-Lowvelders-turned-Springboks set to grace this year’s event at the Emnotweni Arena on September 26.

Faf de Klerk, Duane Vermeulen and Vincent Koch will all be in attendance this year. They are legends of South African rugby, each having won two Rugby World Cups with the Springboks.

Vermeulen (38) has played in three Rugby World Cups for the Boks, winning two of them. Vermeulen was born in Mbombela on July 3, 1986. He is a Nellies boy through and through, having spent his early rugby days running around barefoot on Laerskool Nelspruit’s sport fields before going on to play for Hoërskool Nelspruit’s first team.

De Klerk (32) has won two World Cups with the Springboks. De Klerk was born in Mbombela on October 19, 1991. From the U9 level, he played for Laerskool Bergland’s A teams and also captained the school’s first team. He attended Hoërskool Nelspruit in grades eight and nine before he went to Hoërskool Waterkloof where he completed his schooling. De Klerk also played 56 matches for the Pumas from 2012 to 2015.

Vincent Koch (34) has also won two World Cups. While not born and raised in the Lowveld, he made Mbombela his home when he played for the Pumas from 2013 to 2016. Koch played a total of 51 matches for the Pumas during this time.

The trio will attend the breakfast with former Springbok scrum half Breyton Paulse, set to be the master of ceremonies for the event.

There are still 10 tables available to book, R5 000 each, each seating 10 people. The Airlink Pumas Business Breakfast will start at 08:00 on September 26. Contact marketing@pumas.co.za.
